		<description>Thanks for the comments, Tom, appreciated. I try not to focus on the negative - that was, I admit, an off-the-cuff remark. Overall I am very impressed by the positive and objective response I get from the Free communities, with very little politics if the attitude is open and the licensing GPL. By contrast there seems nothing one can do to gain acceptance in some other places.

The 26% figure comes from the EU&#039;s recent report on the impact of FLOSS on the European economy[1].  It has many, many fascinating statistics, mostly based on original research conducted independently of corporate influence. That specific statistic is on page 51.
